Now this was a fun Pro Bowl! Now the rules looked to be changed after this year’s Pro Bowl. I think they should go back to the old format of hosting it in Hawaii and having it after the Super Bowl so the guys in that game can actually play and not be bored and watch it. With over 70,000 in attendance, the second-largest crowd for a Pro Bowl since 1959, the AFC All-Stars showed they were the bests this year with a 41-35 victory.
As I was watching NFL Network, I don’t know who it was—maybe Marshall Faulk—but anyways, he said that Matt Schaub would be the MVP of this game. It turned out he was right. Right on the money there. Schaub deserved this Pro Bowl, and thank God for Tom Brady not playing in this one. Schaub had 189 yards with two touchdowns. David Garrard also played well, going 8-of-14 for 183 yards and a touchdown.
Like every Pro Bowl, guys don’t try and have fun. They were just shoving and pushing players instead of tackling.
“It’s different. It was like 7 on 7,” NFC linebacker rookie Brian Orakpo said. “Everybody came out here trying not to get hurt and give the fans a good show.”
The Jacksons for each conference played well, too. Vincent Jackson of the AFC had seven catches for 122 yards along with a touchdown to show he was deserved to make it here. DeSean Jackson of the NFC had six catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns, showing his speed and athleticism. Roddy White helped out Jackson with eight catches for 84 yards as well as Chad Ochocinco helping out AFC’s Jackson with his four catches and 80 yards.
“It’s beautiful. It’s paradise,” NFC receiver Steve Smith said of Miami for the destination of the Pro Bowl. “Too bad it’s not Hawaii.”
I was voting Chad for MVP because I thought he would do all the Special Teams with the kickoffs, punts, and all of that. It turned out he didn’t. Ochocinco recalls that he was cool with it and that he had fun. Says ESPN on the other Pro Bowls:
The game will return to Honolulu in 2011 and 2012, but the league hasn’t decided whether to hold those games before or after the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl site for 2013 and beyond hasn’t been determined.
It was a great Pro Bowl, now we have to see what the Super Bowl looks like! Hopefully amazing!
