Now this was a fun Pro Bowl! Now the rules looked to be changed after this year’s Pro Bowl. I think they should go back to the old format of hosting it in Hawaii and having it after the Super Bowl so the guys in that game can actually play and not be bored and watch it. With over 70,000 in attendance, the second-largest crowd for a Pro Bowl since 1959, the AFC All-Stars showed they were the bests this year with a 41-35 victory.
As I was watching NFL Network, I don’t know who it was—maybe Marshall Faulk—but anyways, he said that Matt Schaub would be the MVP of this game. It turned out he was right. Right on the money there. Schaub deserved this Pro Bowl, and thank God for Tom Brady not playing in this one. Schaub had 189 yards with two touchdowns. David Garrard also played well, going 8-of-14 for 183 yards and a touchdown.
During the first quarter of this classic rivalry between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, it was all L.A. They were just unstoppable, ending the quarter with a 30-19 lead. This game would prove who is the team to beat, if you count out the Cavaliers and/or Hawks though. It was all Lakers right here.
But during the second quarter, it was a whole different story. Boston took control of this game, and Rajon Rondo was on fire. The Celtics outscored Los Angeles, 33-17, in the second quarter and took a 52-47 lead—having all the momentum. This game looked over. Rajon Rondo already had a double-double in his hands, with eleven points and ten assists.
The third quarter was no different. The Celtics had all the momentum and were still taking advantage of this whole thing. At the end of it, Boston was hanging in tight with a 73-67 lead.
e got to be kidding me. The NBA All-Star Reserves were recently announced. Some were good picks, I liked them—but oh looky here!—Josh Smith didn't even effing made it! Are you freaking kidding me? This is a joke, right? So a Spaniard named Pau Gasol, who only played like 25 games this year, makes the team and this stud in Smith doesnt? What? Hello, is this really happening here? Now I know how smart these fans are. Yep, that's right, these are not All-Star caliber stats: 15.1 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 2.2 BPG.
Right on the money NBA fans. You got it. Though Gasol has better stats, he has played a total amount of 29 games. Compared to Josh Smith? 44. Um, okay? That's right. That's definitely the case here. Smith is just horrible. Okay, now enough with the harsh sarcasm, but David Stern, really? Are you allowing this to happen? Just change the goddamn NBA All-Star voting rules. I've now had enough with this fan voting. Just stop it!
LeBron James continue to impress us NBA fans, and he just can’t stop. With 4.1 seconds left to go, LeBron had to make one crucial free throw to tie the game, or better yet, both of them to take the lead. James took a blow to the head, and was looking for shots. And there he was, looking to beat Dwayne Wade and the high-powering Miami Heat. LeBron didn’t fail. He sunk both. Wade takes the ball for the heat. Jumper…..no good as the Cavs disappoint the Heat in Miami.
Dwayne Wade had 30 points to end the first half, two in the second. Along with that, he had ten rebounds and five assists. This is so closely compared to LeBron’s performance today. Let’s compare these two MVP’s:
LeBron: 32 points, nine rebounds, four assists
D-Wade: 32 points, ten rebounds, five assists
Very close. Personally, I think LeBron had the better performance. Wade failed in the second half, along two crucial free throws missed with 4o seconds left in the game. Wade was not very happy with the outcome of the game as Miami falls to 23-21. And if they contiue to play like that, they may be well on their way of falling short, or falling far in the playoff contention.
“We put ourselves in the right position,” Wade said. “Just mistakes tonight that I made that I normally don’t … cost us.”
Dwayne Wade looks to bring revenge on February 4th when these two face off again.
Oh man, oh man, what a game this was! Heading into this game were the underdog New York Jets, who looked to surprise the Colts again like they did 40 years ago when Joe Namath and the Jets shocked the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. It looked like from the first half. In the first quarter, both teams were punished by the strong defenses. There were punts flying left and right. This also included a field goal miss by Jay Feely, who is among the many kickers who have been struggling this postseason.
The first score came when the Colts failed to deliver a touchdown in the red zone. That meant they had to settle for a field goal. Matt Stover put it up right, and in. 3-0. But everything changed after that. Here came Mark Sanchez, with a powerful run fake and pump fake to trick Dwight Freeney as he found Braylon Edwards wide open for a go-ahead touchdown. I was hoping for a drop, but hey, Edwards can catch.
Indianapolis struck back, though, as they went into the red zone again. On 3rd and Goal, they failed with a Manning quarterback sneak. Another field goal. 7-6, Jets. Jets took the ball, and here we go again. Jets made another big play with a Wildcat. Brad Smith at quarterback. The ball was snapped and Smith ran to the right, looking for a big run like he did to the Bengals in a 37-0 win. It didn’t work, but something better came: a wide-open Jerricho Cotchery. Cotchery caught it and he was off to the races. He was later down, inside the Colts’ red zone. There, Sanchez made a beautiful play fake to find Dustin Keller open for a touchdown. 14-6, Jets.
It's been a week since one of the most catastrophic disasters had happened to our world. We all know what happened: The 6.0 earthquake in the country of Haiti. A boy, five years of age, was recently rescued after being trapped by rubble...for eight days. They also then found a 70-year-old woman. The NBA, heck, every sports league were devastated by this.
Players like Samuel Dalembert and Pierre Garcon were surprised, also because of family and friends living there as well. Rapper Wyclef Jean was distressed about the accident when he appeared on Oprah. He knew some of his friends died, but he knows he just can't do anything about it. It's unfortunate for our world, but the United States; along with leagues, people, and companies affiliated; are making a difference to help this country.
I can sympathize why Boston Celtics' guard Ray Allen is a bit furious over the NBA All-Star Voting currently. There were players like Allen Iverson and Amare Stoudemire, in which many fans have said that they shouldn't be worthy of accepting this accolade. But the athlete that beams mostly towards my mind is Houston Rockets' star (well, at least he used to be, I think) Tracy McGrady.
It amazes me that he is starting on the Western All-Star team. How? The voting system for the All-Star game with the National Basketball Association allows the fans to vote respectively. But Ray Allen argues. After seeing those players making the team, and starting, he considers that the NBA should allow the fans to vote fifty-percent and let the media and all of them do the other fifty-percent. I couldn't agree more, in fact.
As horrible as it is, the NBA's most beloved player who always has a elephantine grin on his face, like a chessy cat would obtain, now has plummeted. Gilbert Arenas, or appreciated as "Agent Zero," did one of the most half-witted things to be versed towards mankind. I strongly disagree of Arenas' choice.
Those of you who have not been examining the news lately, it seems that Gilbert Arenas was in a so-called "altercation" with teammate Javaris Crittenton. It seems they were somewhat in the likes of gambling and Crittenton yearned for money from Gil.And then Crittenton said he was going to shoot him. Arenas then packed three guns in his bags and told Javaris to "pick one." And now, Arenas was in court lately and is expected to be in court again in March.
It's either Dwight Freeney or Bob Sanders that would lead this category: The heart and soul of the Indianapolis Colts' defense. Well, if you really think so, I would have to strongly disagree.
I can tell you who it is, and this man makes a big difference to the team. This guy is the real reason of why the Colts' defense can be so dominant at times.
